FAQs
Are fluoros banned at the BMT?
The use of fluorinated (fluoro) waxes is not banned at the 2026 BMT. However, in recognition of the environmental and health impacts of fluorocarbons, the use of non-fluoro waxes is strongly recommended for all racers. Today, resources are not reasonably available to fairly enforce this ban, but expect that in future years the BMT will be a 100% fluoro-free race (so, start mentally preparing now!).
What is the total elevation gain in the Full Boulder?
The total elevation gain is 1,239 vertical feet with a total loss of 2,231.
What if I cannot make packet pick up in time?
If you cannot be at The Argyros Theater between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, please notify us via email ahead of time. We will make arrangements to have you pick up your items on race at Galena or Baker Creek. Please note: this is not a either/or option. Our preference is you have your race items a day ahead of time. It is easier for all involved, especially our timers.
My plans have changed or something has happened. Can I get a refund for this year’s race?
The short answer: No. We recognize that people’s lives are fluid; plans change, people get injured, life happens. However, we cannot offer refunds. We purchase goods, hire subcontractors and plan race infrastructure well in advance of the official race date. You can insure your entry during the registration process, or transfer it to another person by midnight on January 16 if you are unable to ski with us.
Can I transfer my entry to another racer, and if so, how?
Yes, but all transfers must be completed by midnight on January 16. You will need a person’s email address to initiate a transfer.

Can I ski in the Half if I am registered for the Full or vice-versa?
That’s a hard no. Race quotas, timing chips and bibs are predicated by the race you are in. By putting yourself in the other race, you risk skewing results, safety and other mechanisms meant to ensure a quality race for all our participants. Failure to comply with this rule will negate your eligibility for future races.
Am I able to see where I am on the waitlist?
Yes. Please go to the registration page, and click on “Who’s Registered,” and your corresponding category.
